Bringing the In-Between Framework into Institutions, Community, and Individuals

I work with universities, arts organizations, educational institutions, and cultural nonprofits ready to do identity, belonging, and equity work seriously and to do it from a framework that integrates lived experience, institutional understanding, and artistic practice.

For more than a decade, I have facilitated, consulted, and led across the field at Theatre Communications Group, the Broadway League, the Kennedy Center, regional theaters, universities, and arts service organizations nationwide.

The work I now offer is grounded in the Art of Being Human, the In-Between Methodology I have developed from those years of practice and from my own life as a Korean American adoptee, multidisciplinary artist, and cultural leader. It is the integration of everything I have learned, lived, and built into a single framework and the foundation for every engagement I take on.

A Note on Lineage

This work did not emerge in isolation. It is shaped by years of training, facilitation, and accountability practice alongside many of the most respected voices in anti-racist arts work, including Conscientious Theatre Training / Anti-Racist Theater with Nicole Brewer, artEquity, Equity Quotient, Marshall Jones III, Kim Pevia, Hannah Fenlon, Menna Malik, and many others whose teaching lives inside what I now offer.

The Art of Being Human Methodology is my integration of those years of practice with my own lived experience and continued study. I name the lineage openly because I believe the most honest practitioners are the ones who can tell you who taught them, and because no real framework comes from one person alone.

The Framework

All of my institutional work, workshops, speaking, consulting, and 1:1 is grounded in the Art of Being Human, a methodology that moves through three connected practices:

  • IN (인/人) — A return to self. The practice of identity, ancestry, and personal narrative

  • YUN (연/緣) — Lived experience into art. The practice of translating what we have lived into intentional creative work.

  • IN-YUN (인연/因緣) — Belonging, woven. The practice of relationship, community, and accountability.

Together, these three movements open into The Art of Being Human, the integrative space where identity, creativity, and belonging are held as a single practice.

The Offerings

There are four ways to bring this work into your institution, organization, community, and/or for yourself.

Workshops & Institutional Facilitation

Identity-rooted workshops for universities, arts organizations, educational institutions, and cultural nonprofits. Drawing on the Art of Being Human methodology, these workshops create the conditions for meaningful conversation around identity, belonging, equity, and the relational dimensions of creative and professional life. Formats range from single 90-minute sessions to half-day intensives, multi-day engagements, and semester-long partnerships. Recent work has included anti-racist facilitation, mixed-race and multicultural affinity spaces, identity-rooted creative methodology for theater programs, and equity-focused conversations for arts administrators and educators. For: universities, service organizations, companies, foundations, educational institutions and more ready to host real conversation and real change.

Speaking & Keynotes

Keynotes, conference presentations, panel facilitation, and public dialogues on identity, belonging, the in-between, adoptee experience, and the relationship between creative practice and identity work.

I speak from lived experience and from years of institutional leadership. Past engagements include Theatre Communications Group's National Conference, the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, university lecture series, and arts service organization convenings.

For: conferences, convenings, university lecture series, arts and cultural gatherings, and institutional events ready for substantive, identity-rooted public conversation.

Strategic Consulting

Longer-term consulting engagements with organizations around identity-rooted programming, curriculum design, equity practice, and organizational development. This is where deep experience in anti-racist arts work, executive leadership, and the Art of Being Human Methodology meet sustained partnership.

Engagements are scoped individually. Past consulting work has included equity audits, EDI strategy development, curriculum design, leadership coaching, and organizational accountability processes.

For organizations, foundations, and institutions ready to invest in long-term identity-rooted change rather than one-off interventions.

Mapping of the Soul: 1:1 Coaching

A structured 1:1 engagement grounded in the Art of Being Human Methodology, designed for multi-passionate visionaries, creative leaders, and individuals at meaningful transitions.

Across our time together, we move through identity, vision, and relational context to build a real five-year horizon, dreams named clearly, action steps grounded honestly, and a path forward that integrates who you are with who you are becoming.

This is not life coaching in the conventional sense. It is the slow, careful work of mapping where you have come from, where you are now, and where your soul is asking you to go  and then translating that into the concrete next steps that make a five-year vision real.

For: artists, leaders, and visionaries at career transitions, identity shifts, or the threshold of a new chapter, particularly those whose work and lives don't fit neatly inside one box.

Topics & Themes

I am most often hired to facilitate, speak, or consult around:

Identity and belonging in institutional contexts. Adoptee experience and adoption-competent practice. Anti-racist facilitation in arts and educational settings. Mixed-race and multicultural identity development. Identity-rooted creative methodology for artists and educators. The relationship between creative practice and identity work. Cultural exchange, hybridity, and diasporic experience. Equity-focused leadership and organizational development. Life and career planning for multi-passionate creatives. The Art of Being Human is an integrated framework for identity, creativity, and connection.

If you are working at the intersection of any of these themes, this work was built for you.

Walk With Me

This work is built on the belief that community can be transformed by the same practice that transforms individuals through the patient, honest, identity-rooted labor of returning to ourselves, translating what we carry into intentional action, and building authentic relationships across difference.

If you are ready to do this work seriously, I would be honored to be in conversation about what we might build together.
